The M&Ms are back! C’mon out!
Here’s the current Bio
Two rapscallion vagabonds with blind ambitions met by chance during their grunt work positions at one of Ronnie Mervis’ diamond mines in South Africa. An immediate kinship/rivalry commenced between struggling motivational speaker Michael Clem & out-of-work patent-pending Flubber inventor Malachy “Matty” Metcalfe. The Mutual Admiration Society betwixt these two free spirited young cads would be temporarily put on hold in favor of fierce one upmanship and jealousy-fueled competitions. Such showdowns would include, though not limited to fencing, karate, arm wrestling, full contact passive aggressiveness, hot air balloon races ‘round the globe, dog sled sprints, Scottish log hurlings, white glove slappings, paint gun duels, poetry slams followed by mic droppings, West Side Story-esque dance-fights, Brokeback Mountain-esque fight-dances, Norwegian Folklore Trivia, stink eye staring contests, mumblety-peg, vulgar spelling bees, Lincoln-Douglas debates, and beer pong.
Eventually, by the year two thousand and eight, fate would lead both tired evenly-matched competitors to the city of Charlottesville, Virginia, where both parties called for a truce. In the wake of these peace accords, both men began to recognize the hidden talents in the other.
“Why, my dear Sir Malachy” snorted half-crocked Clem “is that a squeeze box I see in the rumble seat of your stagecoach? Are you, in fact, an accordionist?”
“Why yes, Clementine” the proudly outed Metcalfe retorted “and do my eyes deceive me, or is that a lute-like instrument strung over your shoulder, or are you just doing a bad Lou Diamond Phillips impression?”
“Tis!” exclaimed Clem “Let’s BOOGIE!”
The former foes then forged an unbreakable friendship through the joyous cacophony of Steam Punk Americana Folk Crap. Having spearheaded this brand new genre (SPAFC), the duo became unstoppable, unless of course they were stopped (by authorities, displeased listeners, or attorneys for the Estate of Jules Verne, which is, of course, a tale unto itself). Yet, no force of nature could possibly run interference with this enduring bromance, that has truly stood the test of time. Together, they’ve performed, frollicked, knitted quilts for unpopular charities, watched “Ballroom Dancing” under a fluffy comforter whilst inhaling bonbons, exchanged BFF bracelets, unicycled, juggled, unicycled whilst juggling… they’ve even donated kidneys to one another.
Working under various monikers like The M&Ms (or The MMs during the Great Ampersand Depression), Sneezy & Squeezy, Cuckold & SwipeLeft, Clemcalfe, Malaclem, The Everly Step Brothers, Legalize Shemp, and Menudo: El Musical – the twosome holds the distinction of actually having more stage names than gigs they’ve played.
Be sure you catch them before the next change of nomenclature!
