Let It Glow
(by Michael Clem)
Friends were hedging bets
the moment that we met
We’ve always been the last in line to know
Yet ignorance is bliss
Stay dark to what’s amiss
But not love’s light, let that pilot glow
Hear me spin these yarns of truth
upon my silly mountain
Years fly by as I watch timber
grow, die & grow
But they’re all lies sitting by
the one true thing I’ve found, dear
Keep that pilot lit and let it glow, let it glow
Keep that pilot lit and let it glow
It’s hard to admit
the end of our act one
We’ve skipped two and three, and moved to five
But I’m not ready to applaud
that bowing setting sun
I’d rather keep our early scenes alive
Hear me spin these yarns of truth…
Not yours, nor mine
but Ours, let it shine
For reasons that escape us
we’re tapped for things to say
We’ve long forgone to read each other’s mind
The silence will destroy us
if we don’t speak today
Our early golden years are passing by
Hear me spin these yarns of truth…
