On Rte 47, coming up on a sign
Officially telling me I’m a-crossing the County Line
State Maintenance ended, it’s miles of no relief
Pavement turns to gravel, travel turns to grief

& IT’S A LONG DRIVE ON A BAD ROAD
I’D TAKE ANOTHER RIDE, IF I HAD ONE
LONG DRIVE BAD ROADS ON MY MAP TODAY

Surface feels like a washboard, my tires rub beneath
Screwing my alignment, it’s a-rattling my teeth
Shaking my brain inside my skull – just like a can of paint
Some may love the open road, but the Interstate this ain’t

& IT’S A LONG DRIVE ON A BAD ROAD
I’M GOING TWENTY-FIVE – WITH A WIDE LOAD
LONG DRIVE BAD ROAD ON MY MAP TODAY

GPS has boycott – this hellish awful route
try to find it on your phone, the whole thing’s whited out

Is my destination worth it? I won’t know til I arrive
but I’ve had it with these bad roads, and long long drives
Hairpin ess curve every turn, it’s a-twisting to and fro
There’s not even a shoulder, and damn, I’ve gotta go
