Love Has Left The Building
(by Michael Clem)
I’ve got a newlywed best friend
She says her honeymoon has ended
They haven’t opened up my gift – Did I keep the receipt?
Though she’s a newlywed
She has a room with her own bed
Their presents all sit out unwrapped, piled up on the street
LOVE HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
LOVE HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
WHY DID IT HAVE TO LEAVE SO SOON
WHY CAN’T IT JUST STAY
IT REALLY PUTS ON A SHOW
BUT SORRY FOLKS, IT’S TIME TO GO
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN
LOVE HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
There’s a couple just next door
I hear them fighting over the chores
They sit on a couch with a counselor
while I sit and watch their kid
They say they’ve got it all worked out
Looks like he’ll be moving out
His buddies move his furniture, in front of his only kid
CHORUS
I was your biggest fan
The first to clap and the first to stand
To beg you for a curtain call, before your final bow
But they’ve turned the house lights on
& they’ve asked us to move on
You had me from the first notes, but you won’t have me now
CHORUS
